In Greek mythology, Gaia is the ancestral Mother; the personification of Earth. In this painting, a young tree grows up from the ground, meandering though the shape of the badger, with autumnal leaves cascading down a wilting branch, symbolising the cycle of life and how wildlife is intertwined with the nature of it's environment.
